Let me introduce you to our friends!

Lend A Hand Uganda

LAHU - USA is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in New York City.   There is an urgent need to assure that the 3 million orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda have access to a safe home, nutritious meals, schooling, and stable communities.  Study after study demonstrates that these factors are crucial to a child's ability to thrive, and we know that helping a child flourish doesn't end with a successful guardian placement, but also depends on the stability of the community at large.  LAHU-USA is committed to facilitating empowering, sustainable change in both urban and rural Uganda.  LAHU strives to give community members the tools, training, and support to maintain and grow each project, and believe that this holistic approach fosters permanent change that will improve lives.  This is why LAHU sponsors animal husbandry, mushroom, bricklaying and horticultural projects, as well as guardian, education, and health and nutrition programs.    Galileo Linens is proud to support LAHU-USA by donating $1 for every item sold to stores and customers.

Based on the Danish model of Skovbørnehave (Forest Kindergarten), Upper Manhattan Forest School is founded by Sarita Covington, a anti-racist community organizer and a co-founder of ACRE (Artists Co-Creating Real Equity) and serves on the Advisory council for The Field Leadership Fund.  The school takes the children outdoors to explore and learn directly from nature.  Families in urban centers deserve to be able to raise world conscious children who are comfortable and connected to the natural environment of parks and green spaces throughout the city. Through expanding the culture of forest schooling in NYC, the school aims to shift our relationship to the natural world and create a future of connection and abundance.
